When did it all begin? I am not sure but maybe sometime back in the color crayon days, when I would sort my jumbo pack into carefully arranged color–coordinated rows. Eventually the crayons became traded in for markers, then paint and now a keyboard and mouse. Class periods were an opportunity for doodling and creating new masterpieces.
During college I turned out still lifes and life drawing studies that lead me to choose Illustration as a directive path. Drawing and painting classes advanced my talent to another level. I completed a Scenic Paints Internship role at the Seattle Rep. Theatre to research painting as a career. After painting all day, I designed my first website in HTML/ Flash by night. Since then two alternate revisions have been published, each one integrating a more advanced technology.
Leaving the theatre idea behind I moved forward with pursuing graphic design, creating a portfolio of work from local clients and pro bono assignments. During this time it seems like I may have held nearly every retail job in the Seattle Metro area. I found new respect for exhibiting solid work ethics and time management. When the dot.com era passed and the economy stabilized, I gained professional experiences by assuming a number of inhouse design positions.
These last few years my design style has matured to reflect a more sophisticated, modern awareness. Through courses at the School of Visual Concepts I have refined and sharpened my skills. Additionally I found an interest in digital photography. Shooting digital is great; it blends the technical challenges of design within the parameters of a fine art medium. The more I shoot the more I want to shoot. If you would like to read on about current work in development or other creative musings please check out my blog.
Good coffee, late evenings, kitties, the word–great, the perfect ballpoint pen and rockin' songs.
